There is a debate regarding the extent of a citizen’s responsibilities as a member of society, with some arguing that paying taxes is a major contribution, while others believe that there are additional obligations as well. This essay will examine both sides before presenting my own opinion.
On one hand, those who say that tax payment is enough think that it is a significant financial support for the country. Taxes are crucial for funding public services such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure. With the help of the budget which is being contributed by individuals, they are indirectly throwing their fellow citizens’ weight behind who are employed as a police officer, doctor, and teacher. Moreover, taxes are a legal obligation imposed by the government that should be fulfilled first.
On the other hand, proponents of the second viewpoint contend that society demands more than just financial support. They argue that people must actively play a significant role in the betterment of their communities. This can be achieved through volunteering, engaging in social activities, and fostering positive transformation. Therefore, these efforts can be considered humanitarian and help us evolve as true human beings.
As far as I am concerned, although meeting tax liabilities is our main priority, governmental volunteerism must not be overlooked. While fulfilling tax obligations provides financial support, it cannot address all the social issues that exist. That’s why everyone ought to provide assistance through community service to establish a better version of fellowship.
Ultimately, the question of whether tax payment is a sufficient contribution to society is a complex one. We should not limit ourselves to funding but also strive to balance financial support with personal involvement in public challenges.
