There is an ongoing debate about whether or not social media has improved communication, while others believe it has made relationships weaker. Social media plays a crucial role in modern life. In my opinion, although social media has some disadvantages, it has improved communication in many ways.
On the one hand, people can communicate instantly regardless of distance. If people work abroad, they can stay in touch with their family and friends. Moreover, modern technology allows people to make video calls, so they can see each other even if they live in different countries. Many students who study at international universities use it to communicate with their friends every day because it is cheap and fast. Therefore, social media has made communication easier and more convenient.
On the other hand, social media has several drawbacks. People may rely too much on social media. As a result, they spend less time communicating face to face. For instance, some people sit together with their friends and family, but they spend their time using their phones instead of talking to them or spending quality time together. Moreover, if two people have an argument online, it may be more difficult for them to solve the problem because they cannot understand each other’s feelings clearly. Therefore, social media may weaken real-life relationships.
In conclusion, social media has both advantages and disadvantages. In my opinion, it allows people to communicate with people close to them easily if it is used wisely. Its advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
