Over the years, the argument about the importance of sports is something which is often discussed in today’s world. Many people think that sports play an indispensable role in society; However, the opposing viewpoint suggests that sports should be considered a leisure activity, and individuals should prioritize other responsibilities that are more crucial in their lives. Although I am more familiar with the latter idea, this essay will discuss both viewpoints.
On the one hand, there are several reasons behind the idea that sports have a significant obligation on people’s lives. The primary reason is regular physical activity can help decrease health problems, not only on a physical level but also in terms of mental well-being. For example, doing physical activities help not only release stress and mental health but also maintain their health to prevent getting diseases such as diabetes.Therefore, some people assert that sports are key to developing a healthy life and society. The second reason is that, in some countries that have a considerable influence in sports, some children who are initiated in certain sports, they will be oriented to become a professional player. Thus, sports become an integral part of their life.
On the other hand, In spite of the above arguments, I hold the position that sports should be considered leisure activities because all people are not able to be involved in sports. First and foremost, a huge number of adults usually spend a large proportion of their time working and earning money; they only engage in activities that are of physical nature during their free time. For instance, some businessmen believe sport is not the priority of their life, and they just spend their leisure time engaging in sport activities in order to keep fit or avoid diseases. As a result, they may think that playing sports consumes too much time. In addition, people who are not talented in sports should choose other jobs such as workers or teachers.
To sum up, I believe that sports and leisure activities have their advantages but there still consist the drawbacks of these kinds of entertainment
