The topic of discussion is whether advertising targeted to children is convenient for them to suit in the real life world or instead completely abandon this concept of exposing them to the TVCs. In my opinion, such an approach is quite necessary as kids will start to grasp the idea about what “being commercial” means. However, there are drawbacks too which could fluctuate their mentality.
First and foremost, ad agencies do follow certain strategies to reach out to the young audience. For instance, Horlicks and Complain are two major chocolate milk drinks that a substantial number of consumers intake in the Subcontinental region. These two brands always try to attract the attention of the viewers with certain graphics and animations that if one opts for Horlicks the individual will get taller, stronger and sharper instantly. On the other hand, Complain gives a raw picture of comparison with an athlete, that choosing this product, will make the one as efficient and proactive as his/her favourite sportsperson. In contrast, few might argue and refer to the negative marketing, unhealthy competition, arguments among friends and the impacts that might fall into the upbringing, subsequently a quick internet search on the products eventually will give the general idea that both the products fall in the same category with similar ingredients in it.
Additionally, many companies arrange campaigns for this particular age group to engage in various competitions and win exciting gifts. Example could be Hot Wheels hosting an event where kids will participate in games and make new friends. Moreover, this creates an enthusiasm amongst the youngsters since they are also becoming a part of the brand itself. Again, some stubborn will oppose and blame the advertisement firms as they are taking away time from study and creating an addiction to watching too much television. This point seems to be quite valid. Nonetheless, specific schedules by teachers and parents should work, but it may not apply for certain personnel.
All in all, definitely this should be a huge move towards this group of people which will focus on their understanding of the practical world and its business tactics.
