The division of urban and rural areas was expanding rapidly in recent years. Some believe that the better place to live is an urban area. While others contend that the countryside is a remarkable location for living. In this essay, I will outline the benefits and drawbacks of living in these areas.
There are three main benefits that should be considered when moving to a city. Firstly, the facilities offered by urbanization. The amenities involve restaurants, gaming areas, movie theaters, swimming pools, and shops, which are mostly not available in the countryside. Secondly, the wide range of establishments for education is abundant in a city. For instance, educational institutions like schools and colleges, libraries, and tuition centers provide various opportunities for students. These cannot be provided by the countryside, despite having a significant number of educational institutions. Lastly, it fosters numerous job opportunities. In particular, there are many companies in an urban area including car companies, software developers, and information technology related organizations. In contrast, agriculture and low-scale businesses are the major sectors in a rural area.
The drawbacks of living in a city are overcrowding and pollution. Firstly, overcrowding results in traffic and water scarcity in the cities, whereas in the village, there is a vast majority of lands and water supply. Finally, pollution levels in an urban area like Chennai are becoming uncontrollable. This is due to a surge in the number of vehicles, which leads to air and water pollution. Conversely, the rural area has good air quality and a peaceful environment as it is surrounded by trees.
In conclusion, although a countryside place promotes a natural way of living, people migrate to urban areas as its positive developments outweigh the challenges. Nevertheless, I feel that rural areas are environmentally friendly locations that play a crucial role in sustainable living.
