The debate over whether computer games are a boon or a burden for children continues to spark discussion. This essay will examine both the benefits and drawbacks of computer gaming, ultimately presenting my viewpoint on this matter.
On one hand, when children play online games impulsively, it can lead to health problems such as obesity. This is because youngsters may spend the majority of their day engaged in playing video games, which significantly decreases their physical activity levels. In extreme cases, excessive gaming can even cause eye strain. Other than that, playing games online may exhibit aggressive and violent content, which could influence a child’s perception, making them believe such actions are acceptable in real life.
On the other hand, there are several benefits associated with children playing computer games. One main advantage of it is the enhancement of a faster decision-making skill. To illustrate, when young individuals play a car racing game, they may need to decide quickly which path to take in order to win the match. Hence, this experience can sharpen their decision-making abilities to make faster decisions in real-life situations. In addition, computer games offer the opportunity to build a social network, providing connections with people online globally.
Taking everything into account, while playing computer games may stimulate faster decision-making skills and social connections, impulsive gaming may create a detrimental effect on youngsters. As such, I believe that moderation is the essential key for young children to mitigate the consequences of playing games online.
