Whenever there is a traffic jam people tend to think that constructing larger roads will help to traffic problems. In my point of view this may help to the traffic problems but making these roads needs extra importance because it can make the problem even bigger.
On paper making these bigger roads can have a positive impact on the current traffic jam but in realty our cities are not designed to handle these larger roads and new lanes. If the construction of the wider roads can harmony with already build cities it has a slight chance of working, however the plans and the designs needs to be precise and spot on if not it can be a disaster
Secondly, instead of investing in new roads to reduce traffic, boosting the public transformation such as (trains, buses and subways) will benefit more the reason is simple, if the usage of public transformation is risen the cars in traffic will reduce therefore traffic problems will reduce to. In addition constructing wider roads will push people to buy more cars and make the problem bigger
To conclude, I personally do not think that making bigger roads can prevent or help to the traffic problems. Using other solitons such as promoting and enhancing public transformaton needs to be considered to help to the problem.
