Band 5+: Some people think that dangerous sports should be banned. Others, however, believe that people should be free to choose sports activities. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Whilst a number of people express a notable concern about dangerous sports popularisaton and request their banning, other individuals argue for the freedom of being engaged in any activities they have chosen. I personally believe, that the individual freedom should be valued and respected more than safety regulation complying.

Those who advocate the prohibition of dangerous activities assume that the risk of being seriously injured is high and completly unmotivated. For instance, modern water sports as free-diving and diving can lead to a severe or fatal accidents due to a number of reasons such as: lack of oxigen in the brain, getting swept away in a current, being hit by a boat and suffering from hypothermia. Moreover, the advertisement and popularization of this type of excercises can impact negatively for those, who are unaware of the consequences. For these reasons, banning extreme sport is a reliable method to prevent health harm for participants.

Conversely, those in favour of personal freedoms tend to persuade others in the idea that choosing the activity is the legitimate right for humans, regardless of the risk it might cause. They consider high-risk sports to be rewarding and motivating due to personal growth benefits and records that might be achieved in the future. In addition, they point out that the safety measures and meticulous training can reduce the potential hazard. In particular, diving and freediving companies throughout the world organise courses and training sessions in order get the participants gain enough experience.

From my point of view, correctly held preparations and safety procedures are crucial to prevent any serious injures, however they should not limit those who are eager to risk and realise all the responsibility. To strike the balance, high risk activities supposed to be regulated by both side agreements.
