When it comes to the dress code in the workplace, there are different viewpoints to consider. While some say there should be a strict dress code policy in the workplaces, I personally believe employers should not care about how their employees dress, as long as the quality of their work is excellent.
One of these reasons is the quality of work. Focusing solely on the quality of work allows employees to express their individuality and feel comfortable, which can enhance their productivity. A person’s skills and abilities should be the primary factors considered, rather than their appearance. Additionally, employees can be themselves and use their potential for maximum use when they are in a comfortable and diverse environment. For instance, the tech-savvy employees who are not pressured to strict dress code will do assignments better because they are in comfortable clothes which make it easy to move around. The quality of work is just one of the reasons why I believe strict code dress should not be implemented.
In addition to the above-mentioned arguments, a relaxed dress code can contribute to a healthier work-life balance and boost their morale. When employees are not pressured by strict dress codes, they have more time and energy to focus on their work and personal lives. This can lead to a stress-free environment for employers, which benefits both the employees and the organisation. For example, when employees feel that they are trusted to dress in a way that makes them comfortable, they will feel positive about their job and will be more committed to their work.
In conclusion, I firmly believe in many cases employers should prioritise the quality of work over strict dress code policies.
