Band 6+: Some people think that family has the most powerful influence on a child's development while others believe that other factors (friends, television, music …) have a stronger effect. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

An influential contemporary trend involves a growing number of individuals expressing their opinions on the subject of influencing a child’s development through family or external factors such as television, friends, and music plays an important role. While it is true that every topic has its advantages and disadvantages, I believe that influencing a child’s development through family has more positive impacts than negative once.

On the one hand, critics may also point out some drawbacks they might say that sometimes families place high expectation on chlidren regarding education, career, or behaviour, which can create stress and pressure. Further, when family influence is very strong, children may depend too much on their parents and may struggle to make their own decisions. Also, they migfht highlight the importance of external factors play a big role. Television programs, documantaries, and educational shows expose children to new information, cultures, and ideas beyond what they learn at home.

On the other hand, there are several arguments in favour of my stance. One of the strongest reasons is that families are usually the first source of values and ethics . Children learn right from wrong, honesty, respect, and responsibility from their parents and relatives. Truly, this is the most compelling argument, as it leads to various advantages. Moreover, another noteworthy benefit is that a supporrtive family provides love, care, and stability, which helps children feel safe and confident while growing up, which further highlights its significance. As an example, children with strong family bonds are less likely to experience anxiety or low self-esteem. Furthermore, parents and family members can teach basic life skills, such as communication, manners, and problem-solving, which helps children succeed in later life.

In conclusion, while there are valid arguments on both sides of this, the benefits of influencing a child’s development through family outweigh the external factors such as television, friends, and music plays an important role. Considering its positive impacts on individuals and society. It is essential to focus on maximising these advantages while adressing any concerns.
