Some people argue that governments should not contribute to international aid because their own vulnerable populations are in greater need of assistance. I completely agree with this perspective. In this essay, I will elaborate on my viewpoint.
The welfare of a country’s own citizens should always come first. While international aid is undeniably important in providing relief to those affected by wars and natural disasters, it should not come at the expense of a country that is already struggling with poverty.
Moreover, if the government neglects its unemployed or homeless population, this neglect can lead to serious problems, such as increased rates of suicide, a lack of educated individuals, which hinders economic investment, and a rise in crime.
In conclusion, while international aid plays a crucial role, I believe that not all governments should participate. Instead, they should focus on addressing the needs of their own people to ensure a better quality of life.
