A number of people believe that worldwide sports are advantageous for the nation, others think that they are disadvantageous. My opinion is that hosting these worldwide sports competitions brings severe impacts to the country.
Some say that holding these events benefits host countries in several ways. Firstly, such events could boost the economic growth. Organizing international sports is said to be a tourist industry because it could generate a huge amount of money for the government and investors. These events can stimulate local economies through job creation and increased spending in the hospitality, retail, and transportation sectors. Owing to the former, citizens can benefit from the modern infrastructure and the highly qualified workforce, as well as the delicately crafted local cuisine by talents from all walks of life. Additionally, pouring money into worldwide tournaments could popularize the national status. These events would improve the diplomatic relationship among countries and attract tourists to the tangible and intangible cultural heritage.
On the other hand, these events still have many downside effects regarding pollution. The carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels could trigger the green house effect. Besides, factories dumped toxic waste into lakes and rivers; followed by the water pollution and the water-related diseases including tumor, skin ailments, and birth defect.
In a nutshell, each idea has its own merits. As hosting sports events could enhance economic development and the national image, it could jeopardize the pollution in the country.
