Certain individuals hold the view that it is essential to dedicate free time to activities that are productive and fulfilling, such as reading and doing word puzzles. Other people opine that relaxing and unwinding is much more important. I believe that the benefits of spending leisure time on mind improving activites are greater than the drawbacks.
Initially, while implementing leisure time into their routine, people can acquire some new skills that will enable them to show off and gain new perspectives. Activities such as learning how to play a musical instrument or cooking a meal can improve musical and culinary skills respectively, leading to productive results in the long-term. Moreover, during leisure time, looking for activities to challenge and stimulate the brain can expand one’s mind and improve physical and mental health. For example, if a person spends their free time working out, due to scientific reasons such as dilation of blood vessels and elimination of muscular numbness, their vascular health and blood circulation will improve, as will their minds. Additionally, they will be more likely to avoid prolonged inactivity and improper posture conditions that bring about mental drowsiness.
On the other hand, there is a considerable drawback. Consistently striving to spend leisure time productively may lead to excessive involvement, resulting in being overwhelmed and stressed. For instance, it is not always beneficial to take another responsibility of learning something just after deciding to take a break from daily duties, especially when the intention is to relax and unwind.
In conclusion, I think the positive points of leisure activities that enhance cognitive abilities outweigh the downsides. Given that leisure time is a precious commodity, it is crucial to utilize it wisely and effectively.
