On the basis of their gender disparities, there has been controversy regarding the suitability of men and women for various occupations. In my opinion,I disagree that the job is divided into some ideas for men and some for women.
First of all, the elimination of stereotype-based gender norms and gender inequality is obvious. In history, men worked outdoors as breadwinners, while women working at home, such as child care and laundry, were considered smaller categories in society due to their inability to create tangible value. However, in the modern era, more and more women gain higher education. The proportion of women admitted to the world’s top university increasing. Girls enrolled 55 percent of Harvard freshmen this year, a record high. More than half of the new undergraduates are women, which means more and more women are going to the highest level of education through their own efforts. Women are able to pursue what previously required professional competence and dominance in the occupation, such as engineers, scientists, and corporate managers. The female workforce participation shows that the vast majority of employment opportunities are open to men and women.
Secondly, gender differences and work are not necessarily related. Gender differences are socially endowed, but that doesn’t mean what men do and what women do. For example, most of the professors are men, but women can also be professors. Most commonly, women perform as well as men in academic competitions and research so they can become a professor. When people talk about psychologists, their usual first reaction is to be women. However, now many men can also become good psychological counselors. As an example around me, one of my classmates was under great psychological pressure and would chat with a psychologist every week. He was surprised that the psychological consultant assigned to him was always male, and the conversation was as careful as the female consultant.
In conclusion, although gender stereotypes still exist in society, I think nobody should be treated differently academically or professionally because of gender. It has been shown that the skills of the sexes can be consistent without drawing boundaries on work.
