There is an ongoing debate about whether technology has made people socially disconnected, while others believe it has significantly improved communication. This essay will discuss both perspectives before presenting my own opinion.
On the one hand, technology, especially social media, has become a daily part of our lives. A clear example of this is that people rely on it so much that instead of having dinner with family or friends outdoors or even cooking for them, they simply order fast food or junk food. This may lead to the breakdown of traditional family gatherings or holiday parties. Additionally, some people spend too much time scrolling on social media at home, sometimes for 6-7 hours, and waste their productive time. As a result, they may experience stress, dissatisfaction, and difficulties in maintaining real-life relationships. Consequently, they can feel left out from relatives or peers.
On the other hand, technology plays an important role in communication, as it allows people to stay connected with friends and family without being limited by distance or time, and it also provides quick and accurate information. Technology can bring positive impacts to daily life if it is used wisely. For instance, it gives people the opportunity to stay in touch even with those who live very far away and helps teenagers make new friends through global connections. Furthermore, it enables young people to continue learning beyond the classroom. As a result, this increases people’s productivity, as they not only avoid addiction but also apply their skills directly in the real world.
From my perspective, technology has not only improved communication but also created new opportunities in the age of globalization.
In conclusion, technology can bring positive impacts to daily life if it is used wisely. It facilitates communication and opens new learning opportunities. Therefore, social media is a beneficial tool and can be used effectively in everyday life when utilized properly.
