In the realm of cinema, there are debate over the purpose. These are some saying it is to entertain the viewer and others arguing they should educate people. While movies should only be for entertainment, I believe education through movies would be beneficial.
The firt viewpoint says that people just want films to be a source of entertainment for several reasons. Nowadays, citizens are under stress of earning money and studying at school; therefore, when they have free time, they just want to watch some movies to blow off some steam. In addition, movies may lead to misinformation for viewers. This comes from the fact that almost all films are short; as a result, they can not provide watchers with full awareness of a problem.
On the other hand, some people believe that films should contain educational factors because of some reasons. First, human thoughts can be easily affected by movies that they are keen on, especially with children. Specifically, childhood is the time when a child’s brain develops, so they like imitating everything they see on a daily routine. Movies might help educational lessons be more understandable and attractive thanks to the combination of audio and images. For instance, research showed that more than 50% of children are more interested in educational lessons on television than in books.
In conclusion, though many people think films are only used to entertain on account of some reasons, I think that they will be more beneficial if they have education values by virtue of their strong effect on children’s psychology and easy understandability.
