Opinions are divided on whether films publicized to the public should be only for amusement or education. While I understand the logic behind the former, I am still in favour of the latter.
On the one hand, movies play a vital role in the pastime of humans. Firstly, watching films can help people escape from the challenges and stress of daily life. For instance, many individuals nowadays are often drowning in works and deadlines at school or company and they even do not have adequate time for outdoor activities. So, immersing in movies is the best method for us to have a blast and also spiritual lives. Furthermore, even within the realm of recreation, making movies also expresses the creativity and effort of filmmakers in a part of the entertainment industry. “Bo Gia” movie, for example, had generated substantial revenues, and attracted potential customers due to its humorousness and also creates jobs.
On the other hand, films and TV programs have very strong effects on the minds of audiences and therefore people should be careful about how the content of the films that they watch affect their perceptions. For example, many people’s morals and values are shaped by what they watch on TV and films. Additionally, children can also learn about right and wrong though the cartoons they watch, while adults learn some important lessons through watching movies. To illustrate, watching a film about war can evoke emotional connect and sentimental value of each person which could be seen as a positive educational effect.
In conclusion, it is understandable why some may argue that considering entertaining movies to be indispensable in our digital world and there no need to be educational. However, I would take the view that films are essential for our education.
