Public health is a major concern in modern society. While some people argue that governments should take responsibility for protecting the population’s health, others believe that individuals should be accountable for their own well-being. In my opinion, both the government and individuals have essential roles to play in maintaining and improving public health.
On the one hand, governments should take responsibility for public health because they have the resources and authority to provide essential medical services. They can build hospitals, make treatment more affordable and organise vaccination programmes to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. Furthermore, governments can run public awareness campaigns to educate citizens about healthy eating and disease prevention. For example, government-funded vaccination programmes can protect large numbers of people from serious illnesses. Therefore, government action is essential for improving public health.
On the other hand, individuals must also take responsibility for their own health because their daily habits have a significant impact on their physical and mental well-being. Eating a balanced diet, exercising regularly and avoiding harmful habits can reduce the risk of various diseases. Furthermore, regular medical check-ups can help individuals identify potential health problems at an early stage. For example, people who exercise consistently and limit their consumption of unhealthy foods may reduce their risk of weight-related health problems. Therefore, adopting healthy habits and seeking preventive care are essential for maintaining long-term well-being.
In conclusion, although governments should provide accessible healthcare services and promote public awareness, individuals must also adopt healthy lifestyles and make responsible decisions about their well-being. I believe that cooperation between governments and individuals is essential for improving public health.
