Some individuals believe that robots will play a crucial role in our evolution. Meanwhile, some people argue that this technology can be a threat and potentially cause adverse impacts on the world. In this essay, I will discuss both views and share my school of thoughts.
On one hand, technology nowadays is becoming smarter and capable of learning almost as fast as humans. Therefore, they are able to give precise answers for most of our problems. For example, Chat GPT and Gemini are the most used chat boxes in recent years thanks to its artificial intelligence. Users will only have to type their questions in dialogue and these robots will give them appropriate responses. However, it is because of their convenience that makes many individuals more reliant on generated answers instead of investigating by themselves. In addition, AI is not only a problem solver but they can also generate arts such as pictures, drawings and even movies just from a script. Unfortunately, this threatens many workers in the art field as their artworks are not as free as AI’s products, leaving many artists unemployed and becoming one the most affected groups in the 4.0 Industrial Revolution.
On the other hand, despite being the main cause of the higher unemployment rate, robots help reduce the number of dangerous manual jobs. For example, robots in constructing infrastructure are in charge of digging the mainstream instead of builders, this decreases the risks and time consumption. Additionally, mini robots that are as small as a seed are under trials and will soon become a helpful tool in operating patients with complex conditions. Since they can go inside the human body and handle small details.
In conclusion, the concerns of the dominant of technology are not new. In the last decades, workers in Western countries used to destroy many machines because they accused them of stealing their jobs. But hitherto, we have accepted machines as irreplaceable tools. As for cutting-edge technology, it will only take time for us to figure out the most suitable solution to use them properly.
