Band 9: Some people think that robots are very important to human's future development, while others think they are dangerous and have negative effects on society. Discuss both views and give your opinion

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In today’s fast-paced world, it is often argued that robots play an indispensable role in our future lives. However, others hold the opposite belief that they will pose a serious threat to our society. This essay will delve into both perspectives as well as state my support for the former one.

Proponents of robots claim that they are big contributors to our future development in many aspects. First and foremost, they can significantly reduce human labour by taking over repetitive tasks or physical burden, thereby enabling workers to focus on more creative and meaningful activities. This lays the foundation for a cutting-edge and convenient future where robots dance attendance on humans. Additionally, the widespread adoption of robots is likely to boost economic productivity, as they are capable of working continuously and rarely making mistakes. Hence, businesses can increase output while reducing labor costs, promoting economic growth. Last but not least, if in moderation and under control, learners can use Artificial Intelligence as a useful tutor. With just a “click”, AI has the ability of providing a great deal of information and knowledge, facilitating study progress. Also, it offers students opportunities to improve self-study and broaden their horizons more effectively. Consequently, those in favor of this stance often highlight the instrumental role of robots in our society.

Conversely, supporters of opposing the growing use of robots argue that they may bring several negative consequences. This perspective stems from the idea that robots can be the main cause of unemployment in the future. In the event that businesses prefer the robots to real employees, especially those who request low-skilled and routine jobs, many people will end up being jobless and living a miserable life. This issue can increase poverty, undermine the development of the regions. Another drawback is that the entire reliance on machines could lead to the erosion of basic survival skills and the loss of problem-solving ability. If people become accustomed to letting machines perform tasks on a daily basis, they will be incapable of coping with sudden problems when technology goes wrong.

In conclusion, although there are good grounds for advocating both views, I am convinced that we can benefit from the introduction of robots that hold more validity in the long run. It is recommended that further measures be taken to maximize the advantage of intelligent machines while minimizing any disadvantages.
