With the introduction of technology, the ways people interact with each other have also changed considerably as social media can be an example. Even social media is considered to be more beneficial by some people, I claim that it brings numerous drawbacks to humankind which are more than bright ones.
On the one hand, there are visible advantages of social media that cannot be underestimated. First and foremost, its easiness for sending and receiving messages which required much time and effort by people in the past, when letters were in fashion. Currently, with the help of Telegram, Instagram, Facebook, and other means of social media, people can chat with people who are in other parts of the globe without any difficulties. What is more, it gives people an opportunity to be informed about what is going on not only in their country or city, but abroad as well. This, in turn, raises awareness of people for any important news related to education, health, and crime. For example, the Internet and social media, a student can gather information about which country, university, college or company is better for their future education and career.
However, social media possesses such dangers that cannot be covered by its few benefits. To begin with, the modern illness of ,,social media obsession” which is spreading dramatically fast among youngsters today. As a requirement of the technological era, even pupils in primary schools need devices such as mobile phones and laptops for education. As a result, parents fulfill this requirement and their offsprings start using social media in early stages of their life. This, in turn, leads the young generation to spend hours and even days on Internet sites without any purpose. Finally, they become isolated from their family, friends and the real world. On top of that, some people with bad intentions use social media as a ,,trap” for not only the young but older people as well. As the Internet consists of unlimited sites, it is hard to differentiate which is good and which is bad. Because of colourful advertisements and persuasive words, people do not know where they are entering. For example, the cutting-edge phenomenon of ,,terrorism” ,which is ruining many countries, uses Internet sites, and social media as a magnet to attract its own prey. And among this prey, there are also older people.
In conclusion, even though some people think social media provides benefits such as easy chatting and information sources about the world, I do not think its huge disadvantages namely Internet obsession and a cozy trap, are massive and cannot be hidden by anything
