People have different views on whether animal testing is necessary in medical research. In my opinion, animal testing plays an indispensable role in the medical industry, despite the disadvantages it brings.
On the one hand, there are two main reasons why some people oppose the idea of animal testing for medical research. Firstly, it is believed that such testing is cruel and inhumane, and therefore should be banned. Every year, many animals subjected to medical testing suffer physical pain and even have their lives taken away. In addition, to conduct animal research, a large amount of money is spent on establishing laboratory facilities and human resources. This can be a burden on a country’s national budget, preventing the government from investing in other important aspects such as education and housing.
On the other hand, despite the disadvantages mentioned above, in my opinion, animal testing is necessary. Humans still rely on animal testing for many purposes, including developing new drugs and testing the safety of medical products. In fact, today’s most powerful supercomputers are still unable to understand the workings of the human body and complex organs such as the brain and heart, which are very important for medical research and development. More importantly, due to biological similarities, medical research needs to be done on animals, which will bring better results in medical research than other methods, so far there is no better alternative, and I believe that human existence is much more important than that of animals.
In conclusion, although drug testing on animals by scientists is considered morally wrong and unacceptable, I believe that many vaccines and drugs would not be available without the addition of animal DNA.
