There is a growing public opinion that getting a university degree is the best method to achieve success in life;whereas others argue that it is not necessary to go to university.In this essay,I am going to examine this question from both points of view and then explain why I agree with the latter one.
On the one side of the argument there are supporters of obtaining tertiary education. A university education is a must for those who desire to succeed in their academic careers.Professions like law or medicine, for instance, require a high level of education. In these fields, the depth of knowledge and specialized skills acquired through university education is considered crucial for ability and success. Furthermore, the learning environment provided by universities is seen as foundational in preparing individuals for the complexities and responsibilities associated with such occupations. The argument maintains that a university education not only fulfills the requirements set by certain careers but also lays the groundwork for a full understanding of the subject matter and the development of critical skills.
On the other hand,some believe that success is not always tied to education. This can be explained by the fact that they think that gaining practical experience through internships, apprenticeships, or on-the-job training may be more valuable than spending years in a classroom.For example,in certain professions,like acting, singing, or sports, hands-on skills may take precedence over academic qualifications. This perspective underscores the diversity of paths to success and the importance of recognizing the specific demands of different professions.
In conclusion,I believe both arguments have their merits.On balance,however,I feel that while a university education can provide valuable skills, knowledge, it is not the only path to success.This is because some professions may require a formal education, while others may prioritize practical experience and skills.
