Some say that you should see as many different places as possible and you definitely should interact with foreigners to imagine the whole scene of the world. Especially when young people are concerned, it is crucial for their personal growth as a person. As for me, I absolutely agree that travelling abroad and meeting people are necessary for everyone, because only through communication you can develop an ability to see from another point of view. With this skill, you will have more profound understanding of things and will be able to take into consideration cultural and economical aspects of people’s behaviour in different situations.
It is clear, that there are so many radically dissimilar regions on our planet. And of course people in every country have various approach to problem solving regarding to their own experience, knowledge from their ancestors, their cultural heritage and traditions. Definitely, if young people can take at least a piece of information from dwellers of each of these regions, then they will make a great contribution to their own mental growth. For instance my former classmate has been learning in Scotland to become an engineer on an exchange programme for two years. As he said me, “They are doing the whole thing upside down!” But now he often apply those methods and he has become very successful.
It is not always possible to go to another country physically, there could be some restrictions due to some epidemical or political causes. So, what else we can do, to broaden young people’s understanding of the world if for some reason they cannot travel abroad? I suppose, that in such cases schools, colleges and universities should provide a vast range of informational resources about what happened in the past, what is happening now and how does world work. Different social, cultural and historical features of diverse regions of the world should be shown to students. Moreover, we live in the age of the Internet and people all over the world can be connected in the blink of an eye, so educational institutions have to use this technology for international programmes. This will lead to enriching of the learning experience, and ,maybe some day, will help to avoid some misunderstanding or will inspire young people to make new discoveries.
To put it simply, any experience you get will be yours for a lifetime. Unfortunately, not everyone can afford distant travels. But luckily, the whole world now is in your smartphone and young people not bound longer by any borders. So, I insist, that young people have to travel to other countries if it is possible or at least they have to participate in some online educational projects.
