Recently ,there have been heated debates on whether the government is supposed to provide the old with financial. aid. People seem to hold divergent attitudes towards it.
Some people opt for the action. As we know, old people are weaker and less helpful than the young. As a result, they require more care an than the younger generation, including pension. If the government can take the responsibility, it can guarantee a good quality of life for the old. In this way, with less expense paid for supporting their old parents, adults, especially those with children, can devote themselves to other fields, marking contribution to the country. What’s more, never should the achievement of the old be ignored. That’s because they were committed to the society when they were young. Now ,they are old but should be treated in a more tolerant way.
Whereas there are some against it, arguing that people should be well prepared for their future life ,with finance no exception. In the first place, supporting oneself is one’s own business. If people need to prepare for their retirement life. They will spend their money more wisely ,which is not something negative. Besides old people need their dignity. There is nothing that makes people feel honored, graceful and dignified than spending the money that they themselves earn. When purchasing people think” It’s I who earn the money”. They will surely be proud of themselves which leads to healthy mentality.
As to me ,it depends if some old people have entirely lost their labour ability the government need to support them or employ some professionals to do the job. On the other hand, if the old people are still equipped with labor abilities, the government may help train their labour skill and encourage them to earn money on their own. Another option is to provide create volunteer positions for them. After all ,they are still want to do good to society and be regarded as useful.
