There is a debate revolving around the internet. While some say that the internet united people, others see it as a major factor for general publics’ solitariness. Although the former view holds validity, I side with the latter for several reasons.
At the outset, let’s delve deeper into the former view. Some have the right to argue that the internet has a significant role in peoples’ lives who heavily rely on it for keeping touch with their nearest and dearest relatives and friends. A case in point can be seen in immigrants’ daily lives. Foreigners who left their country in a bid to make a living, travelling or other purposes, often face with hardships to connect with their contacts. In this regard, they can associate with people while savouring from the various facilities offered by the internet, such as video calls, messaging or sharing any kind of information.
Having said that, I support the latter because now, we mostly youngsters are glued to our phones, relentlessly killing our time on social medias. This has become so compulsive that these days, more and more individuals opt for the internet to have dealings with people. Social platforms such as Instagram, Whats app infringed humans to conduct face to face conversations. In the past where human beings are forced to make their ways to long distances, in an effort to meet up with somebody or deliver something. So, that little gatherings might have been crucial to improve their levels of fellowships and ties. However, in this modern era, people might not feel the necessity to get together with other individuals and can chat up with them with a single phone call.
Having considered varying views, I came to conclusion that while the net can provide people with many opportunities to interact with each other, it has a pivotal role on their individualism.
