Meanwhile, people from poor backgrounds may struggle to afford even basic technologies devices, limiting their opportunities to access to job interviews, online education, and essential welfare services. For example, in many developing countries, high costs smartphones and advanced services prevent low-income families from fully participating in digital world, leading them to losing connection with today interconnected world.
However, technology has the potential to reduce inequality by providing opportunities for education, establishments, and connectivity. Free or affordable online learning platforms helps people from lower social-economic backgrounds enable to gain knowledge and skills that they previously cannot reach. For instance, platforms that provides free courses, allowing learners form diverse financial backgrounds to improve their career prospects and practical skills, which enhance opportunities for people to achieve higher career performance and quality of life. Additionally, small businesses can use social media or e-commerce websites to promote their products and brands globally, overcoming geographic and financial barriers. As a result, people from all financial backgrounds still can accomplish same services or status via technology.
