There are two views expressed her. Firstly, some feel that in-person interaction with a teacher is more beneficial. Secondly, some believe online learning is more effective. Both these ideas have their own reasoning that may be based on convenience, experience and many other things.
In-person teaching is the conventional mode of teaching, where the student and the teacher are both physically present in a classroom. Interactions between them in such a setting is more personal and this tends to be more engaging and interactive. Here, students are less hesitant to speak up or ask a question, they are also able to gauge the teacher’s response as well as their body language. The environment in a classroom is naturally learning oriented, which helps to stimulate a student’s brain to be more study driven.
Online learning on the other hand, is often done in the comfort of ones home, connecting the student and teacher virtually. Online learning is a good option when we are physically unable to go to the school. But the environment around a house is drastically different from that of a classroom. People tend to lose focus easily and they show hesitation is speaking up or asking questions. This tends to make the session less interactive and it feels more monotone and boring. Let us consider an example, during the pandemic in 2020, schools and colleges introduced online classes. There was a very evident hesitation among the students to speak up or even unmute their microphones, this made the whole lecture feel more like a constant monologue.
In conclusion, I personally lean towards in-person teaching, this experience feels more interactive, personal, and overall more human.
