Certain individuals believe that adjusting to the local practices and traditions should be necessary when somebody travels into a different culture. In my opinion, i agree that when somebody travels to some place with new cultural practices, one must try to adjust to those local practices but i also believe that it should not be mandatory.
When people travel to new places they witness various local cultures with new rituals and pratices that they might like or dislike. In addition, some travellers might want to practice it themselves but some want to just watch others do those practices. It should totally be their choice to perform or to just see those customs, traditions or any kind of local practices. Moreover, purpose of travelling can be different for everybody. Somebody might travel for work while somebody for their holidays. However, somebody might travel solely for witnessing the local customs and tradition and even follow them. Hence, the reason behind the travel is essential for somebody to adapt to local culture.
There are so many cultures and people follow fascinating practices all around the world and witnessing those new things is always very interesting to most of the people but this does not imply that they have to follow them when they travel to see them. Consent is very important to everybody and no culture in the world is allowed to force anybody to follow it, be it a local person or an outsider. The difference in cultural activities is prime factor for promoting tourism of that area. Hence, if somebody thinks that an outsider is meant to follow their local traditions and pratices, it will directly escalate the negative promotion of their culture.
Finally, any traveller when travelling to a new culture should not be forced to follow any local practices. It should solely be their decision whether to just see or to practice them.
