it is often argued that travellers who visit to another country should adjust to the local tradition and customs. I largely agree with this viewpoint, as this will bring about significant benefits for both visitors and local residents.
One major reason why cultural adaptation is necessary for tourists is that they should respect for the host country’s traditional practices and local communities. When travellers demonstrate their respect for local cultures and residents, they could avoid cultural misunderstandings and prevent cultural conflicts. Thus, local residents also respect foreign visitors, which ultimately helps visitors to have an enjoyable and interesting experience. To illustrate, foreign tourists who want to visit sacred locations, such as temples or pagodas in Vietnam, should choose proper clothing and dress suitably to prevent cultural conflicts among individuals.
Another benefit will be gained through cultural integration from foreign visitors is close international relationships. Through adopting and learning about cultural practices and traditions worldwide, people can establish a friendly and close global bond. As a result, cultural adaptation helps to foster international cooperation, which ultimately promotes peace and the overall development of the whole humanity.
However, I strongly believe that tourists does not have to give up their own traditional customs and practices. In other words, becoming familiar with other cultural norms does not mean forgetting their own traditional customs. Thus, this not only embraces other local customs, but also protects tourists’ own cultural identity.
In conclusion, I largely agree with the perspective that people travelling to another nation should integrate with its cultural practices and customs. Nevertheless, they should remember their cultures and traditionals instead of giving up their cultural uniqueness to adapt other customs and norms.
