Nowadays, some individuals believe that money which were spent for developing the technology for space exploration is not reasonable and the government should invest them in more beneficial things. While I agree with this statement, because the money could be better to spent on urgent needs on Earth, I b elieve that space research also has long-term benefits.
On major reason why allocating money on space is not justified is that social problems like poverty and lack of healthcare are more valid and affect millions of people. For instance, many children cannot go to school or receive basic medical treatment, which could be improved if these funds were redirected. Therefore, immediate social needs and issues prioritized over space programs.
Another reason why money on space is not appropriateis that the cost of them is extremely high and they often reached to billions of dollars. Consideriong that many people still lack clean water, housing, education and several social needs, it seems unreasonable to invest so much in space programs, the government should more disburse money for these needs. For example, they could invest in water filters which will reduce the chances of people gettinf sick, in addition to new tec hnologies for schools and education programs that will enhance students’ academic performance. Thus, from both practical and ethical perspectives, spending heavily on space cannot be justified.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that the money spent on space exploration is not justified when compared to urgent needs on Earth. Governments should focus on improving people’s well-being rather than funding costly space projects.
