Some people think that modern media is too focused on the past and no longer produces original ideas. I partly agree with this opinion, because even though many media products repeat old concepts, there are still creators who try to offer something new.
On the one hand, it is clear that nostalgia plays a big role in today’s media. Many movies are remakes, sequels, or reboots of stories that were already popular before. TV shows also often follow the same successful formulas instead of taking risks. Media companies usually choose familiar ideas because they are safer and bring more profit. Because of this, viewers may feel bored and think that everything looks the same.
On the other hand, modern media is not completely lacking originality. Thanks to new technology, creators now have more freedom to experiment. Streaming platforms and social media allow independent artists to share fresh ideas without depending on big companies. In addition, many modern films, series, and documentaries focus on current social problems, such as mental health or inequality, which were not discussed so openly in the past. This proves that creativity still exists.
In conclusion, although modern media often looks back at the past and sometimes lacks originality, it would be wrong to say that it is entirely uncreative. There are still many new and interesting works being produced. In my opinion, the best solution is to combine familiar ideas with new and original ones.
