Some people hold the view that having ex-criminals give a talk at school is the best way to teach students about crime education. Logical as it seems, I believe that there are other equally effective solutions to discourage pupils from committing an offense.
On the one hand, ex-offenders speaking to teenagers could place great importance in crime education . Students are more likely to engage in the speech held by ex-criminals rather than teachers. This is because they could see these people in a face- to- face environment and feel the honesty in their stories. When wrong doers share about their price paying for the unlawful activities , adolescents would be more mindful about their behaviors and foster a sense of responsibility.
On the other hand, various feasible approaches could be implemented by both parents and schools. Firstly, parents should act as pioneers teaching their offsprings about social evils and how to avoid them. Many researches have shown that people that used to be subject to the outbursts of impulsive or aggressive behavior of their parents will lack empathy and create a sense of antisocial tendencies , leading them to violate the law. Secondly, schools should integrate crime prevention into student’s daily life by involving them in crime plays or mock trial courses . Through these activities, children become more aware of laws and develop into righteous citizens.
In conclusion, while I concur that we could impart knowledge about crime to students through lawbreaker’s speeches, other alternatives are viable to hinder students from committing an infraction.
