It is undeniable fact that one of the most the most conspicuous trends of today’s world is a colossal upsurge in the number of people believing that social media has enhanced the way they communicate with others, while others opine for it has negatively affected to real life relationships. Although people might feel closer with the social media communication, i believe that real-life communication is an effective way to boosted the quality of communication between individuals. In this essay I will discuss two aforementioned views in depth.
Many people who support this view claim that social media has significantly improved human communication. They believe that the online communication makes socially distanced interaction more simple and efficient through gadget, because they don’t need to show their real expression of their reaction directly, so they are unaware of the each other genuine emotions. For example, platform such as WhatsApp, instagram, line and more app that allow people in long-distance stay in touch to maintain close relationships through daily calls and instant messaging. However, I believe that social media is not the most effective way to express our emotion and people need to face-to-face interaction to truly understand each other feelings.
On the other hand, people consider that the social media has negatively affected in real-life relationship. This is because online communication often lacks facial expression and gesture that important for building trust and genuine understanding. For the instance, many people spend hours scrolling through their phone instead of engaging with those real society around them, which may weaken emotional bonds. For this reason, I believe that physical presence also creates a sense of emotional attachment that online communication cannot be replaced.
In conclusion, despite the beneficial impacts of social media offers people keep in touch across long distances, it still cannot replace emotional connection that is formed through in real-life interaction between individuals.
