In today’s world, a vast number of animal species are declining at an alarming rate. Human activities aimed at improving our own welfare are primarily responsible for the extinction of wildlife. In this essay, I will elaborate on this issue and provide several examples.
To begin with, a major factor contributing to the disappearance of animals is hunting. Some individuals hunt for sport, driven by selfishness and greed, while innocent animals suffer as a result. Additionally, deforestation has a significant impact on biodiversity. To meet the demands for furniture and other resources, people cut down trees, often encroaching on the natural habitats of animals due to overpopulation. As a consequence, many species are slowly vanishing because their homes are being destroyed by human activity.
These circumstances are unacceptable, and governments must take action. Illegal hunting should be prosecuted, with severe penalties for offenders. Furthermore, governments need to initiate afforestation programs that not only create new forest areas but also focus on reforestation to mitigate the effects of deforestation. This way, animals can reclaim their habitats. For instance, India hosts an annual event called Van Mahotsav, or Forest Festival, which promotes afforestation and encourages tree-planting initiatives across the nation. The impact of this campaign has been significant, resulting in an increase in green spaces that are vital for establishing new habitats, providing shelters, nesting sites, and food sources for wildlife.
In conclusion, human actions have a profound effect on the lives of animals. Due to practices such as illegal logging and deforestation, wildlife is in jeopardy. However, there is still hope; by imposing strict penalties on those who engage in illegal deforestation and organizing initiatives to create new green spaces, we can ensure that animals have safe places to live.
