Traditionally, high school seniors will tend to either pursue college or enter the workforce after their graduation. However, these days, a third option- gap years, year students defer university enrollment to travel or work; is gaining traction. While there are admittedly several benefits to students, I believe that negative influences of this growing development are more glaring.
There are two primary reasons why numerous high schoolhighschool seniors think that taking a gap year is beneficial. Initially, there’s a pervasive belief that students that take taking a break from formal schooling have abundant time to enrich their life experiences. As a result, gap-year gap – year takers identify a suitable career path thatpath identifies itself for the gap-year taker that has cultivated relevant job skills. Furthermore, those whothat hone practical skills show dedication and effort, displaying a candidate’s diligence and perseverance.
Realistically, taking a gap-year to travel or work and gain practical skills isare truly important; hHowever, I would argue that although there are many advantages to this phenomenon, they are eclipsed by itsthe disadvantages. Many students gap-year takers after taking a long break immediately pursue workworking not knowing that they are fallingway behind those who have both comprehensive knowledge and some life experience. Such limitations not only detrimentally affect their work, but also cause their company to lose loyal customers. Therefore, pursuing college helps students identify a suitable career path andnot only identify a suitable career path but also boost overall work productivity. Moreover, comprehensive knowledge needs to be taken into consideration. For example, at a daily work basis, could lead to making the situation not only unfinished but have a higher chance of getting dismissal.
In conclusion, while taking a Gap Year is not without certain benefits, I would argue that certain disadvantages do not make it a worthwhile path. 5.5
