It is believed by some teachers that all adolescent students would broden their horizon by apply the international programs. In my opinion, this tendency have more benefits than drawbacks.
On the one hand, there are several disavantages when teenage students enroll to international exchange projects. On top of that, they could be feel culture shock. Unfamiliar customs and different beliefs which exchange student might facing with the most, leading misunderstand, conflict and tension. It may be difficult for them to concentrate entirely on their studies when they struggling adapt to the new experiences. Additionally, the international programs are not easy to follow, especially with the students have poof language skills, leading to difficult catching up with the lectures. Furthermore, homesick is another aspect contribute to the quality of study with the people in the age of teenager. They could be depressed, axioty, influencing the quality of study.
However, the benefits that students could gain from this programs are far more significant than the drawbacks. Firstly, exchange students have a chance to exposed the new culture and meet divergence people from different continents. Hence, they might learn a range of skills which they could not have a chance to learn if they study in their home country. To illustrates, they can develop their social skill by sharing the experience with other exchange students and get a deeper insight into the culture by immersing themselves in the local community. Another benefits is that living far away from parents could assist them become more independent. Without support from family, they have to learn to cooking, cleaning, managing budgets, making decisions, and take care of themselves.
In conclusion, although exchange students might have difficulties in adapting to the new culture and following international school, I still believe that the benefits of international exchange program do outweigh those drawbacks.
