Nowadays, some universities offer online courses so that students can study remotely. Although there are certain advantages to online learning, I believe it is a negative development overall.
On the one hand, there are several benefits of online study. Firstly, it is convenient. People who study online are able to attend lessons from anywhere, which leads to a more flexible schedule. Secondly, it is more affordable. Online classes are cheaper than offline ones, as students can save money on transportation. Moreover, some top universities provide online courses for free, along with certificates upon graduation. For example, students who are unable to study abroad at prestigious universities can still take their online courses, which may create many opportunities and help them save money.
However, in my view, the drawbacks of remote learning are more significant. Firstly, students who study online may suffer from eye strain, headaches, and sleep disruption due to prolonged exposure to digital devices. Secondly, online study may lead to poor discipline. Studying at home, in a comfortable environment, can distract students with various household activities. As a result, their knowledge may be superficial and incomplete. Moreover, this can lead to more serious problems when seeking employment or performing at work. For example, a student who studied online and frequently lost concentration during lessons may receive an insufficient education, which can result in difficulties when trying to find a job.
In conclusion, although I acknowledge the benefits of online learning, I remain convinced that it is a largely negative development overall.
