Learning English with native speakers in their homeland is most preferable; however, there are other strategies to gain knowledge with the language. I completely agree that there are other methods of learning English such as courses and programs or through the internet.
Firstly, people in developing countries have taught English in their school curriculum or offers English courses because it is the universal language. Most of the students in the third world countries aspire to work in prestigious companies with requirements to learn English for smooth flow of communication with foreign clients. Through the competition, motivation, requirement and practice in an educational institution, it made the students learn more about the language effectively without going to a native English country.
Furthermore, social media has become part of everyone’s life these days and most of the contents are in English which encourages the watchers to learn the language in their leisure time. Social media offers a lot of platforms and methods to practice English and one of it is by watching videos that pique one’s interest which helps with the engagement more interesting. For instance, Youtube is a social media platform that gives people access to post educational or different kinds of contents and it also has options to watch the videos with subtitles. In effect, the watchers will be able to learn words that are unfamiliar with the proper diction from a native speaker in just a single video.
In conclusion, while others might say that going to an English-speaking nation would improve your English the most, there are still other learning strategies and methods that can be done such as learning in school or using the internet to gain more knowledge with the English language.
