If I have to name the movie which combines ravishing cinematography, breathtaking plot, incredible cast and what’s the most important – truly special and remarkable story, it will undoubtedly be the film – «All the Light We Cannot See», directed by Shawn Levy. This movie influenced me a lot, since the illustrated story resembled a period of my life I was going through back then. Thanks to all of the efforts made by the cast, crew, studio and the author of the book, the film was based on – Anthony Doerr, I was able to entirely understand the main point, which was really helpful and wholesome at the time I needed it.
Probably, the most interesting part of it, is the fact that I have never thought that I could adore this type of the movie that much. Neither genre nor the title of the «Internation bestseller» or «Pulitzer Prize-winning novel» have never sounded alluring to me. Nevertheless, I watched it for the first time a year ago, right after it was released on the one of the platforms. Initially, I felt completely overwhelmed, since I was amazed by the performance, special efects, costume design and unusual but quite effective approach to the storytelling, which showed the memories and the current affairs being jumbled up and complement each other. What’s more, I was puzzled by the fact that the main character named Marie-Laure,was actually played by Aria Mia Loberti – the person who is naturally blind and who has never auditioned and dreamed about being an actress. Therefore, it seems fair to me to admit that all of the actors and actresses seemed to fully understand their characters.
Another factor which makes this movie even more advantegous to me, is how ubiquitous it is. This is not just a typical tale filled with twists and turns which are supposed to make it more attractive whether for the readers or for audience. This is the story about the most precious human values such as love, persistent hope, moral support, standing up for each other, finding joy and the so-called «light that cannot be seen” in the darkest times. What affected me the most, for certain, was the way the director tried to show how all of the aforementioned moral principles can help every person to become capable of changing something regardless of their poor situation, innermost fears or disabilities.
It wouldn’t suffice to say that the movie had a great impact on me, on the grounds that I could connect with its character’s stories. The film is an invaluable and timely project to me, since I could truly understand the characters’ emotional states and decisions they were making. I would recommend «All the Light We Cannot See» to everyone, who goes through some difficulties and wants to give up. As a person who appreciates a high-quality cinematography with deep sense, I can say that this masterpiece will stay with me for a long time
