In some societies, famous people gain remarkable respect when they play crucial roles in feasibly influencing spectators, especially youngsters. Although this tendency can guide the young to some beneficial value, I strongly believe that it such a negative phenomenon, for several compelling reasons.
Granted, great inspiration from well-known influencers can help the young generation to follow positive behaviors. To clarify, there are plenty of talented or top achievers who widely share their experience and effort which contribute to their success to motivate viewers or listeners and also encourage them to foster their personal development. As a result, the young can learn from these wisdom from predecessors as well as role models to become better. However, trying to live up to the standards of celebrities may not suit everyone, because each person has their own strengths and goals, so the influence of them on young people can sometimes create unnecessary pressure, causing them to feel inadequate about themselves.
Additionally, there are two strong reasons to argue that the disadvantages of famous influencers outweigh its advantages. To begin with, tremendous support from the public poses a significant expectation on famous people that they must be forced to represent absolute perfection in order to maintain their reputation. For example, some celebrities build their image on a non-mistake frame, thus the occurrence of any inappropriate behaviors can lead to the decline of trust among the youth. This causes young people to become skeptical about life and lose their orientation in pursuing their goals. Furthermore, excessive admiration for celebrities can discourage young people from developing independent thinking. Instead of forming their own values and goals, many tend to imitate the lifestyles, fashion, or opinions of their idols without critical awareness. Consequently, this blind imitation may result in a loss of individuality and creativity among the younger generation, which can hinder their personal growth in the long term.
In conclusion, although celebrities can have a positive impact on the young by inspiring motivation and success, their overwhelming influence often leads to unrealistic expectations and the erosion of individuality. Therefore, this development should be viewed as largely negative, and it is vital that the youth learn to admire famous people with a critical mindset and focus on building their own authentic values.
