It is often argued that some schools think that musical instruments should be learned by every child. While some people may agree with this view, I strongly disagree with this statement and think that children should have free choice about their learning path and music instruments.
Firstly, the main reason is that children can loose their future career. This is because forcing children to learn something they do not want to know can lead to destroying children’s wishes and they might lose time that they could have spent studying a subject that interests them. For example, children who were forced to learn to play any instrument may not enjoy and find it difficult. Eventually, they will grow up and become musician since their main focus was on music and most likely become a slave to their job in the future.
Secondly, another important reason is that the skill of playing an instrument can be less profitable than other subjects. This is because there are a lot of important subjects like math or physics that will be more beneficial, as these subjects generally more demanding and helpful. For example, a child who is more interested in science may become more successful and get a higher chance to get a workplace rather than a musician who was forced.
In conclusion, I completely disagree that education systems should force to teach to children how to play a musical instrument. This is because they may have unwanted future career and the subject itself can be useless. For these reasons, I believe that not every children should be taught how to play a musical instrument.
