In this high-tech era, everything has become more accessible and so is online shopping. Some people are against it and others have made it the part and parcel of life, such as, for grocery shopping. This ongoing trend has both its positive and negative aspects, which are discussed in the following essay.
Some fraction of people believe that e-shopping has more advantages. According to me, there are three major advantages. Firstly, it is a paradise for individuals who have hectic schedules, as it is more convenient for them to buy stuff online without venturing into a physical store. They can get everything or anything under one roof of a shopping portal. For instance, Amazon has all kinds of products; health, beauty, gifting options. Additionally, working mothers can order groceries from applications like Instacart, which saves their time and energy which enables them to spend it on their hobbies. Secondly, it can save money as well. For example, there are coupon codes or discounts going on, or festive sales. Moreover, big deals are advantageous to a middle-class family. Following the other points, other positive view is relevant in today’s time which is door step delivery. As we know, COVID is still present in some parts of the world, non-contact delivery is more hazard-free than in-store shopping.
On the other hand, its disadvantages are no less. There are three significant disadvantages attaches to it. First and foremost, is cyber crime. It is so prevalent in today’s era and is more dangerous than people can think. Many e-shopping apps has done data breach which is threatening to our privacy. The recent one is Temu; they have misused their shoppers credit card information. Secondly, we can’t see the quality of the product and its finer details thorough our eyes which means we are more likely to get befooled by the brand who make fake promises. This trend has become so common, especially on apps like Instagram. Last but not least, is tendency to overspend, especially for shopaholic people as they are prone to get attracted by the deals.
Though there are many positive aspects to online shopping as it is gaining grounds in today’s world, its negative aspects should not be overlooked.
