The widespread accessibility of entertainment, such as electronic games on portable devices, has negative effects on both individuals and society. I partly agree with this view, as although there are certain negative consequences, it also helps people to escape stress.
One major benefit of the availability of electronic games is that they can help people reduce stress that they gain throughout the working or studying day. For example, individuals after returning home usually tend to watch a movie or listen to music to escape from reality and just relax. Instead of this, they may open their smartphones and play some relaxing video games related to their hobbies or interests. Furthermore, it is scientifically proven that mobile games such as ‘P.U.B.G’ and ‘FC Mobile’ improve critical thinking and reaction.
However, being able to open a game anywhere and whenever you want can lead to addiction. Nowadays, almost every single student has one or two video games for just ‘escaping stress’, but basically many young people spend 5-6 hours a day playing games instead of studying or exercising. Moreover, staring at a screen for hours will cause health problems with eyes and posture. On the other hand, the most significant disadvantage of this is being isolated from everything. If people give most of their time to programs instead of real life, they will have some issues such as problems in relationships with parents and weakening social skills.
To sum up, despite some benefits such as relaxation and mental stimulation, the uncontrolled use of electronic games may cause serious personal and social problems. Thus, I partially agree with the given statement.
