According to many people the best way to reduce the number of many car accidents is to introduce more severe punishments. While I do believe that stricker rules may decrease the number of driving offences, there more beneficial approaches to this problem.
According to the statistics, 72% of car crashes are occurring due to poor penalty system of the country. This means that giving more pressure through rules and high fines to the public will be a preferrable approach. Finance is a key factor in many individuals’ lives, as a result, in order to avoid an extra burden on their budget people will obey all safety rules on roads. Poland, for example, was among top three countries with high rate of car accidents in 2015. However, throughout next 5 years the authority put pressure on citizens by enforcing costy punishments for driving offences. This, in turn, brough about the rapid decline in the number of car crashes and drunk drivers.
From an other angle, implementing other methods, such as test taking or encouraging financially toward people to decrease problems on roads is advantageous. Firstly, requiring to take a driving test every 2 years will increase the quality of drivers on roads. This, undoubtedly, will shorten the number of drivers who are not qualified enough, remaining only experienced ones. Moreover, finance plays a crucial role in everybody’s life and might trigger individuals to obey all policies. Consequently, offering a fixed amount of money to drivers who do not break the laws during a year will lead to tremendous merits to both society and government. In 2021, for instance, Korea introduced zero tax program to those drivers who did not cause road problems, as a result, the percentage of car accidents went down sharply.
In conclusion, although I wholeheartedly believe that harsh punishment toward accused drivers is essential, there are other more effective methods to deal with this problem, such as organizing regular tests for drivers or motivating them by offering money.
