With the substantial evolution of the digital age, exploding information emerges as a negative response, hindering individuals to wisely select truth over falsehood. This essay will evaluate the root causes of this growing issue and further discuss the practical solutions.

There are several rationales that emerges the inevitable explosion of information. In the past, the liberty of humans in terms of freely expressing personal opinions was restricted due to the sensitivity of politics, with only allowance for privileged individuals to speak up. However, contemporary society, presented alongside with social media, encourages the freedom of providing information from different perspectives. This revolution represents as a double-edge sword, paving the way for the malevolent intention of spreading false knowledge in order to cause public controversies. In addition, people’s inherent naivety when receiving information further pushes the issue to an extreme edge, leading to frequent chaos in which a false information being widespread. For instance, Covid 19 displays a dramatic period of falsehood, particularly in Vietnam, where there used to be a prolonged controversial topic related to the prevalence of inevident information about the government employing Chinese vaccine on social media.

In order to mitigate the impacts of information falsehood, there is a need for the government to intervene in with stricter policies to punish those who deliberately disseminate false knowledge. As they may deceive their personal information or be anonymous on social media, the government should enhance the investigation process on a case-to-case basis, especially with the involvement and support of IT consultants. Regarding national-related controversies, punishment with zero tolerance should be enacted to allay public concerns. In addition, those who expert in technology have a tendency to create illegal online newspaper websites to inform untrue knowledge to the reader. Therefore, the government should also impose harsh control on information published in newspapers, a credible source of knowledge in citizens’ visions. Regarding the public chaos in Vietnamese society during Covid 19, the intervention of the government and the police system to punish those individuals has successfully diminished the cases of false information.

In conclusion, the explosion of information has been a global prevalent issue, and is believed to happen due to the emergence of social media and the freedom in exchanging opinions. However, this phenomenon can be tackled by the government’s legal punishment in terms of investigating and controlling public posts on social media and newspaper.
