Overall, the cost of palladium increased dramatically and platinum prices fell steadily over the years. Initially, platinum was the costlier metal but by 2021, palladium surpassed and became the costliest out of all 3 metals.
Palladium was priced low in the initial 4 years, fluctuating at around $750 per ounce in the initial 4 years. The costs then rose significantly from just above $500 per ounce in 2016 to just below $2500 per ounce in 2021.
Platinum, on the other hand, was priced at an all-time high of $1500 per ounce in 2013 after which it fell suddenly to $1000 per ounce by 2015. The prices then remained almost the same for 7 years. Gold fluctuated, but was relatively static between 2013 and 2019, costing between $1000 and $1500 per ounce after which it rose considerably to around $1800 per ounce in 2020 at which level it plateaued till 2021.
