It is a fact that people have started to realize the importance of biodiversity as more species have started to face the risk of going extinct. However, there are several solutions to tackle this problem, which should be implemented immediately.
Firstly, hunting down endangered species should be prohibited. As is well-known, hunters are incessantly killing them as a hobby nowadays. Thus, this new phenomenon adversely affects the ecological equilibrium, which has negative impacts on humankind as well because humans are a part of nature after all. For example, recent research has proven that bees are likely to go extinct in the next three centuries because they are killed by people who are afraid of them. This development is expected to affect the reproducing process of plants, which would also have detrimental effects on agriculture due to the dependency on bees in this field.
On the other hand, besides restricting hunting, shrinking habitats are another concern. Today’s society tend to expand their settlements and facilities, which causes the natural habitats of animals to be devastated. Consequently, these animals either die because of the unsuitable conditions for them or get into a race of survival with other animals due to being confined in a limited space. For instance, in Istanbul, boars have started to appear on the highways of Sariyer, which resulted in their deaths due to being run over by cars, and there are myriad examples across the world.
In conclusion, it is a fact there is a growing awareness regarding biodiversity because the current situation poses a high risk to the variety of species, and people are trying to solve the problem now. Hence, I firmly believe that society can tackle this issue by not allowing hunters to kill endangered species and not expanding their settlements.
