In recent times, people have realized how crucial biodiversity is as a growing number of species have started to face the risk of going extinct. However, there are several solutions, which should be implemented immediately, to mitigate the problem and retain biodiversity.
Initially, people should not be allowed to cause any harm to endangered species. As is well-known, hunting, which is the main reason for the extinction of some animals, is a common hobby among society, while picking up rare plants is another activity that poses a high risk to endangered plants. Therefore, these types of activites should be banned by governments in order to protect the variety of species. For example, in Turkey, a kind of eagle was likely to go extinct due to being incessantly hunted down. Therefore, the government has implemented a new regulation to protect them; consequently, their number has doubled since the legislation of the law.
On the other hand, besides the restrictions, society should also stop occupying their natural habitats. It is a fact that humankind tends to expand its settlements, and this situation causes the habitats of living beings to shrink because people usually devastate natural environments and ecosystems when they build new structures. Hence, this activity should be limited by countries as well. For instance, in European states, governments have some strict rules on new buildings and require them to be ecologically friendly. As a result, according to recent research, they have managed to maintain the biodiversity in their region.
In conclusion, the importance of biodiversity has been understood by humanity because a significant number of species are threatened by the risk of extinction nowadays. However, there are some feasible methods, such as not allowing individuals to pick up or cut plants and hunt animals, to resolve the problem.
