Ocean has turned into a landfill for plastic rubbish that are non biodegradable which has significantly impacted the environment at large. Lack of strict rules from government side and lack of awareness among the general public are the main reasons behind it.
Government are the main powerhouse that has the ability to create rules that can affect the conservation of natural habitat. However the large water bodies like ocean as the receiving end as it has turned into dumping site for products that cannot be degraded. The main solution for this would be to put strict measure in such environment is more than necessary to preserve environment and to deter those who try to pollute the water body. For instance people who throw oils and plastic wastage in oceans have to pay hefty fine if caught. This has remarkablly reduced the water pollution.
In the other hand general public are not aware of the cycle of destruction caused by such pollutions. If people are not aware of the cause and effect of the simple action of dumping garbage in water then they are more likely to continue doing so. So the most apt solution would be to increase awareness through social media and also advertisement. It can also start early from school so that children are aware of it’s grace consequences. Let take the example of Finland where children have to learn about water conservation from primary school and the percentage of water pollution has reduced a lot that what it was 50 years ago.
In conclusion not having strict laws for those causing pollution and by establishing a strong elective bodies that can take strict action can help in the long run. And in the same breath by not having enough awareness about the aftermath of pollution has increased the water pollution and my increasing awareness in the society from the earliest age can decrease it.
